Sea squid turned out great. Not only can fly up to 30 meters, this squid also have flying speed beat marathon runner.

June Yamamoto, scientists from Hokkaido University, revealed that squid can fly by spraying water with high pressure so as to create thrust. Having a "take off", the sea squid fins open and start surfing.

Measurement scientists show, squid can fly up to 11.2 meters per second speed. This beat marathon runner, Usain Bolt, winning the gold medal in the Olympic run at speeds 10.31 meters / second.

"There are always rumors that witness and say that seen flying squid and now we can prove the truth," says Yamamoto as quoted by AFP on Thursday (02/07/2013).

Yamamoto found that fact by stalking herd consists of 100 sea squid in the northwest Pacific, 600 miles east of Tokyo, in July 2011. Flying squid found when the ship approached researchers. Behavior associated with disability flying escape from predators.

"Once they slipped from the water, spreading their fins and arms. When they landed in the water, like the fins folded back to minimize the punches," said Yamamoto who successfully perpetuate photo while flying squid.

Sea squid average stay in the air for 3 seconds. Behavior may only be able to make flying squid escape aquatic predators, but could make it vulnerable to attack seabirds.
